Diggers suffer 'multiple casualties' in Afghanistan

UPDATE 5.05PM: THREE Australian commandos have been killed in Afghanistan.
Defence Minister John Faulkner and the defence forces chief Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston are releasing details of the incident at a media conference in Canberra now.
The incident involved the Special Operations Task Group.
Air Chief Marshal Houston said a coalition helicopter went down in northern Kandahar.
Ten Australian commandos were among those onboard.
Three were killed.
Seven are being treated for their wounds; two are seriously injured.
"I cannot provide any further details on any other foreign nationals onboard the helicopter," he said.
Coalition helicopters were in close proximity when the chopper went down.
"They were able to land immediately, secure the area and evacuate the injured," Air Chief Marshal Houston said.
"I am providing as much detail as I can. An operation remains ongoing."
He said the crash was not the result of enemy action.
